We built the app we wished we had.

"Why is it harder to find the right personal trainer than finding a date?"

That question sparked Kayen: a smarter, more personal way to connect people with the trainers who actually fit their life. Not just their postcode.

A picnic.
A question.
A company.

It started on a rare sunny afternoon in London. The kind that makes you feel like anything is possible.

Kim and Nouf were at a picnic, talking about fitness the way you do when something's been quietly frustrating you for a while.

Kim had tried everything. Every app, every listing, every recommendation. She could track her runs and count her macros, but finding the right in-person trainer? That was another story. The good ones were invisible unless someone you trusted happened to mention them. Everyone else was a gamble.

Nouf's problem was the opposite. She'd found great trainers, but life kept getting in the way. Hectic travel, unpredictable hours, constant change. Staying consistent felt impossible when your trainer was anchored to one gym, one time slot, one city.

That's when the first of many questions came up: "Why is it harder to find the right personal trainer than a date?"

Where was the Tinder for personal trainers? The Airbnb that made something previously complicated suddenly effortless? The Uber that removed all the friction between needing something and getting it?

What they found instead were endless marketplaces. Directories full of names, specialisms, and acronyms that meant nothing to most people. (I still don't know what HIIT is.) Somewhere between the idea and the research, it became obvious - that layer didn't exist. No smart matching, no vetting, no structure. Just Instagram DMs, Google searches, and hope.

So they went and talked to people. Trainers at gyms, freelance coaches, clients who'd quit halfway through, people who'd never hired a trainer but wanted to. The more conversations they had, the clearer it became — this wasn't just them. Everyone felt it.

Trainers were brilliant at their job and exhausted by everything around it. Finding clients, managing admin, chasing growth — all on their own, all the time.

Two sides of the same problem. Great trainers who needed to be found. People who needed the right trainer and had no good way to find them.

So the real question became: how do we help them find each other?

Kayen was the answer.
